UT Student Government Resolution AR 21

Calling upon the Administration of the University of Texas at Austin to intervene in a planned euthanizing of the Beagle Stampy when alternative measures exist to obtaining specimens

 

WHEREAS, the Animal Resources Center is presently dealing with CEDRA, an Austin based bio-technology company, for the housing and euthanizing of Beagles for their organs.

WHEREAS, two Beagles have been destroyed in the Fall of 2000, and the remaining Beagle is scheduled for euthanization before the first of the year.

WHEREAS, CEDRA's research of cell cultures should be encouraged, but the method of obtaining the specimen's can be done humanely.

BE IT RESOLVED, that the specimen's of the beagle Stampy be surgically obtained so he may be rehabilitated and released to a suitable home.
